The following content has been provided by the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.
The award itself is a statue symbolizing the Graduate School's logo,
the award certificate and the prize money, which is represented by a cash check.
This is the award with the highest prize money the University has awarded so far, 100,000 Euro.
May I ask the laureates to please stand for the award?
The University has awarded so far, 100,000 Euro. May I ask the Laureate Professor Jonathan Holm
to join me here in front of the audience?
On behalf of the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg,
I will pass this award to you with our warmest congratulations.
The prize represents all our best wishes for a successful accomplishment of your project
that you will perform here in Erlangen at our University within the next years.
Let me start with the certificate. I would like to read this certificate and the text to the audience.
The Young Researcher Award in Advanced Optical Technologies 2013 with a prize money of 100,000 Euro
is conferred upon Professor Jonathan Holm from the ETH Zurich, Switzerland
in recognition of his outstanding contributions in ion trap quantum information processing.
Erlangen, June 28, 2013, signed by the coordinator and director of SIT, Professor Leibitz,
and the president of the University, that's me.
So I would like to present you this award.
Congratulations.
The award statue symbolizes the logo, as I told already, of the graduate school,
and it's made of stainless steel and is of quite heavy weight,
according to the importance of the prize, of course.
One can hardly hold it with just one hand, so please be prepared to hold it with two hands.
Can I put this down?
I would like to give this to you.
Thank you.
Yes, good to hear.
We also prepared a wooden box, as you can see here, to make the transport easier for you.
I don't know whether you'll take it in the plane, but...
I may have to check it in, yeah.
Finally, we have prepared the cheque with the amount of 100,000 Euro for you, Professor Jonathan Holm,
and please take it.
Okay.
Thank you.
Please, will you come here to join us?
I take one, maybe this one?
