In this lecture we investigate data access patterns of simple stencil schemes identifiying layer conditions (LCs) which desribe the change in Code Balance and performance. We discuss the impact of dimensionality and parallelisation approaches on the LC, identify spatial blocking optimization strategy and derive estimates for the blocking factors through the LC.
