Welcome to our tutorial Order, Reserve and Renew Resources at the University Library

of Erlangen Nuremberg. On the homepage of the University Library's online catalogue,

select the pickup location where you want to pick up requested and reserved items. We

operate a transfer service between the four branch libraries. Please note that items have

to be returned at the location where they have been collected. Our departmental libraries do

not take part in the transfer service. In case you wish to reserve one of their items, which

is currently on loan, please select the departmental library as pickup location. We will select the

Science and Technology branch library TNZB as pickup location for the following example.

You start your search by entering the book title, discovering statistics using IBM SPSS

statistics in the search box title words. Next, you select a print copy of this title,

for example the 2018 edition. The detail view displays all holdings across all of our libraries.

Loanable and available copies at your library of choice will be shown as available for loan.

The book's individual shelf mark corresponds to the book's exact place on the bookshelf. Here

you can also see which copies are currently on loan, the current due dates and existing

reservations already placed on specific copies. Items which are on loan by another user can be

reserved by clicking on the link on loan until. In order to reserve an item, you need to be locked

into your library account. Your library number is written on your FAU card or your library card

below the barcode. In case you have forgotten your password, you can also reset it here. Please

remember to confirm your reservation at the end. If all available copies are out on loan, you can

tap get document. Reservations placed here won't be bound to a specific copy and you will automatically

get the next available copy. It is possible to request items from branch libraries other than

the one you originally selected by using the link for order. After successfully placing an order,

you will be shown an approximate date of arrival. You have a full week from that date forward to

pick up your item. In your personal account, you can obtain an overview of all items that you have

taken out, ordered or reserved. Here you can also see the current due dates of your loans and the

branch library where you can return the item. Media with a green hint can either be renewed

one by one or all at once by clicking on the button renew loan periods. Note that loan periods

cannot always be extended. For example, in case an item has been reserved by another user. Make

sure that your renewal attempts have been successful by checking the due dates of your

items. Also note that an item you have renewed can have its loan periods shortened when another

person places a reservation. So we would advise you to check your due dates regularly. Overdue

items cannot be renewed retrospectively and will incur fines from the due date onwards. If you just

want to take a quick look at your account or renew items quickly, you can do so directly via the

library homepage. Please contact our online support or one of the information desks if you

have any further questions or concerns.
