Alright, let's start.
So good afternoon everybody, now in English as we decided.
So welcome to
the first talk in our series New Morphic Colloquium in this semester.
Today we have a presentation
by Dietmar Fai about memory stores and in-memory computing.
Before he starts, I would like to
present our New Morphic Computing Labs of Nordbayern.
My name is Marco Breiling.
Let's
move to the next slide.
This one.
I'm the coordinator of this New Morphic Computing
Labs Nordbayern and you see it's a partnership of four partners besides University Erlangen
it's also D.H.
Nürnberg, Fraunhofer IIS and Leistungszentrum Elektroniksysteme in Erlangen
and our vision or our task is to bring New Morphic Computing into education
into research and also
into consulting.
The topics that we cover here are threefold basically.
So we had developed
New Morphic Accelerators and it's a hardware software co-design that means it is not simply
possible to design an accelerator without a compiler so we do both and more tools.
We
develop more over platforms that means not only the chip but also boards
eval kits and so on and
the software ecosystem to run the chips for specifically edge applications so we're not
into high-performance computing yet
maybe later on and the third is also algorithms so we develop
specific algorithms for these accelerators which can be either deep neural networks or spiking
neural networks and just one slide about our partners you see it's five partners from FAU
two from TR Nürnberg and three groups from Fraunhofer IIS.
So that is our New Morphic Computing
Labs.
Okay that's the end of the presentation and now let's move on to the presentation by
Dietmar Fei.
So while you are loading it up I will present you Dietmar.
It's actually a
Gewächs in German plant Kant you say in English of FAU so you started here in FAU
did also your
PhD here in 1992 then you went to University at Jena
did an assistant professorship there
until 1999 and wrote your habitation there.
In a different garden, the plant.
Afterwards you were a
private lecturer or privata in German at University of Siegen and 2002 you became a professor in Jena
for computer engineering and 2009 you switched then again back to your home garden became professor
for computer architectures Informatik 3 at FAU in 2009 and you've co-authored more than 200 papers
that's a lot that's pretty much and three books.
Okay so then I'm excited about your talk and the
Presenters
