So
sorry that I was not able to be there
so I work in IASA
so I guess that most of
you are familiar with IASA
the European Aviation Safety Agency
and you are responsible for
the certification of all aircraft and also for the rulemaking part.
I'm more focusing on the euro making part
so I will provide you now an overview of the
activity that we are doing here in IASA.
So
you can see my screen and I would like to start with giving you the...
Yes, we can see your screen.
Perfect.
So
I will start with giving you what is the framework that we have at this moment in the
European Aviation and the regulation that we have.
So
you may be familiar with the regulation 2019 945 and 947 that identifies three categories.
So
open
that is a very simple operation
very low risk
where authorization is required
but they are very prescriptive
so only for very short range operation.
Then when the operation is a little bit more risky
so we call it specific category
and
in this case you need to have an authorization by the aviation authority and is based on
the risk assessment developed by the operator.
The risk assessment is called SORA
Specific Operation Risk Assessment
for which I will
give you some information in the next slides.
So
with the risk assessment
the operator will be able to identify all the requirements
to make the operation safe in terms of design, operation, training.
So, it's a way to have a performance-based regulation, so where the regulation is very
flexible and the operator may find the best way to conduct the operation
fitting their
need, fitting also their cost.
And then we have the Certificate category, that is the operation with higher level of
risk
for example
when there will be passengers on board
in that case this will fit in the
certificate category.
