Thank you, we are starting now.

Welcome to the Tuesday session.

I hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend.

Today we are going to continue the discussion on image distortion,

the impact of image intensifiers and the interaction of the image intensifier with a magnetic.

Welcome!

He is still smiling. You are the candidate.

I said the next one who is going to join us will be the candidate of the day.

Should I have said ladies first? Oh, sorry.

Good. So, as usual, Tuesdays I will give a brief summary,

so I want to make sure that you are aware of the big picture.

So, here we are talking about diagnostic medical image processing.

Diagnostic medical image processing means we use the devices for diagnostic procedures,

so it is not time critical.

We have enough time. If the system fails, it is not a disaster.

It is, of course, inconvenient, but not a disaster.

And this winter semester we more or less consider algorithms

that do not lead to a disaster if they do not work properly.

And we have discussed so far a few modalities.

Please make sure that you are all aware of which modalities are used in hospitals today,

and you should also be familiar with the images these modalities produce.

So, whenever you read an article in the newspaper saying

General Electric brought a new CT device on the market

and they show an MR image next to the text, you should be able to notice this mistake.

This actually happens quite often.

So, sit down, Google around with Google images,

try to understand how do MR images look like, how do X-ray images look like,

what is the characteristics of an ultrasound image.

You have to become familiar with it.

And if you are combining this lecture with the lecture of Dr. Haast's writer,

you can be sure that in the oral exam he will bring a few pieces of paper

and then he will ask you what modality is this and why is this a T1,

why is this a T2 sequence and so on.

So, you should be able to read these images.

Which modality is this? What is your name?

Baltasar.

Baltasar. What is your name?

Sorry.

That is the dementia that is in progress, you know.

Sorry for that.

What are the modalities you know?

X-ray, CT, MR, SPECT.

What does SPECT stand for?

I don't know.

It is single-photon emission computed tomography.

What else do you know?

Ultrasound.

Ultrasound.

I mean it is a challenge here.

The question in the oral exam will be we learned about 10 different modalities.
