Hello everyone. Like Dirk said, my name is Marcus.
I've been doing product management for about six, seven years now
and I'm going to be talking about product management,
which means a lot of different things in different domains and different industries.
So basically what we will be talking about is a toolbox or methods with which you can
sort of you will run into an issue and you can use these tools to resolve these issues.
Because in reality you will see a lot of the things you teach and you learn in theory,
there are so many boundary conditions and reasons why it doesn't always apply in reality.
And so therefore I will be going through different methods.
I'll be talking about prioritization, about estimation, about a development life cycle.
It's very important that if you have any questions, interrupt me immediately
because then I can respond in the context, I can respond directly to your question.
I went through this yesterday evening and I realized, okay, this might be a little much
in terms of maybe you are completely new to product management
and then this may be completely new to you.
So please, if you have questions, just interrupt me.
So I'm going to be saying just a few words on myself, then I'll be talking about SunHill Technologies,
the company I'm working for at the moment.
Then we'll go into some learnings from product management,
some of the things I've learned in different industries
and then we'll bring it to a closing.
So on myself, I was actually the product owner of the very first Amos Praktikum.
That was 2010. That was a bit different than today. It's different.
You've got industry speakers, you've got industry projects,
but back then we had one project, one tech team.
There's myself over here, Dirk over here.
We worked together with a doctor, with a pediatrician,
so somebody dealing with children.
We developed what we called a Wikipedia for dosage information.
Out of that, we developed a startup, NetDoses.
I'll talk about it briefly just now.
That's also where I really got to know Dirk and we worked together very closely.
So just a screenshot you can see we were building essentially a website
where you could input dosage information for children.
We had an app where you could download all this information to your cell phone or your smartphone.
I don't want to go too much into this, but this basically took three years.
We did all the business plan, business plan competitions, pitching.
You can see me here, Netspac Nordbuyer, I'm pitching for, I think it was round one.
So they have three rounds of competitions every year.
So this is me just presenting our pitch to people interested and investors.
So we did that for three years.
We essentially built a working website, a working input for dosage information.
We worked together with the University Hospital of Erlangen creating an initial database.
And essentially we then hit that part where you need funding.
And funding is obviously you need to ensure that you have enough funding
and that you have a valid business case.
And this turned out to be very difficult.
We essentially sold off our assets.
So that was the online editor, that was the software, that was the initial database to a third company.
