Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
It's my pleasure to start our fourth series of the seminar on innovations in mobility
at the FAU, University of Erlangen, the most innovative university in Germany.
On the organizational side today, we have as before, Alex Kühl from the Institute for
Factory Automation as our host.
We talked a lot in the last months about mobility and e-mobility products like bikes, electrical
cars and electric trucks.
And our subject today is how to finance the energy transition.
And nobody would be better suited for explaining the challenges and providing a solution and
an answer than Pierre Abadi, our host for today.
Pierre has studied physics, engineering and business.
He spent 16 years at the French energy giant Total rising to director level before joining
Tiki Howe Capital where he is climate director and co-head of the T2 Energy Transition Fund.
Pierre sits on numerous boards and is also a columnist of the French newspaper L'Express.
But above all, he is a world renowned specialist and speaker for decarbonization, sustainability
and the financing of the energy transition.
After the presentation, which we record, we will hold a Q&A session.
Please send us your questions as we move on in the presentation.
Pierre, it is a massive pleasure to have you with us tonight and over to you.
Thank you.
Thank you, Jean-Marc.
I'm very happy to speak with you all.
So I've got a few slides that I want to share with you.
We'll come into the world of investing and impact investing, in fact, which is not as
obvious as just investing and we'll come back into it.
More than happy to answer to your question after the presentation.
First of all, I will just present very quickly with TKO.
So we are an asset manager, as we call it.
What does it mean in reality?
It is very simple, is that we collect the global savings, mostly worldwide savings.
It's savings for retirement people.
And then we invest those savings directly into the economy.
Within TKO, we are mostly making private investment, which means that we are mostly investing directly
into companies.
And it's true that we are mostly currently investing into Europe.
So we are investing into European small and medium companies.
And we do that in the form of equity.
So we are bringing them fresh cash to develop that activity.
Or we can do that as well in the form of debt.
Our company has been founded in 2004.
And today we manage nearly 36 billion euro of assets.
So basically we've got 36 billion euro of global savings that were given to TKO to be
invested.
And we are investing into private equity.
So the equity part, we're investing into private debt.
We are investing as well into real assets.
So this is where you will find infrastructure and this is where you will find as well real
estate.
And we are doing as well a bit of liquid strategies.
We are a bit more than 700 employees and we are present to 13 countries, which is our
