At the beginning we were a small group, mainly engineers.

Our goal was the eternal color.

It is like this.

All our things are colored, clothes, toys, books, everything.

But these colors fade with time.

This can be dangerous.

We use colors not only because they look nice, but also as warning signals.

And when the color disappears, then the warning is gone.

Some colors never fade.

Like the butterfly, the beetle or the peacock.

We wanted to recreate these colors.

But the structure on the scales, the armor and the feathers was too complicated.

We couldn't do it alone.

So we got together with experts from chemistry, physics, mathematics and material science.

People who calculate the path, who analyze the tiny structures, who can explain the process.

Today we are 70 people from many different research disciplines and countries.

And now it works.

We develop sparkling colors that never fade, like in nature.

To make more people part of our research, we got together with the Panoptikum,

the Science Center in Erlangen, for photonic and optical technologies.

On October 3rd we want to meet the mouse fans there.
