OK, you can hear me, right?
Excellent.
So yesterday, we talked about the math
and theoretical computer sciences prerequisites.
And the most important message for you is,
I'll assume that you know, and it's your responsibility
to make that as true as you need it to be.
It's probably a good idea to think about these things
a little bit before we actually need them, which will be soon.
OK, so the next thing we started doing was to build a,
or kind of synchronize on, the vision of what will
become intelligent agents.
So the idea is that, given all the things like emotion
and sensing and acting and all of those kind of things,
and thinking, of course, to give those
a place in our universe of things
we think about in this class.
And we'll put that into this notion of an agent
and look at them in isolation a little bit.
And then we will look for the rest of the semester
at essentially the thought processes
in the center of the agent that allow the agent to make
a model of the world, predict what their actions are
going to do, and so on.
So whenever that works extremely well,
we're going to call it rational.
Rational, in a way, is the stand-in notion for intelligence.
We look at intelligence, try to find out
what it is in a way that it becomes implementable.
And then we'll kind of move our way towards rational agents
in this course.
Now, we briefly talked about this idea
of thinking like humans, acting like humans,
and thinking like humans.
We talked about this idea of thinking like humans, acting
like humans, right?
Thinking is the basics for action,
and thinking and acting rationally.
And all of those play a big role in the kind of wider AI area.
Any one of those really gives rise
to a whole area.
Acting humanly is acting like humans
is what the Turing tests.
And essentially, the realm of AGI, strong AI,
which I basically told you we should stay away from,
because the time isn't ripe yet, I believe.
So we're going to stay away from it.
Thinking like humans, understanding that,
is what is nowadays cognitive science, right?
Basically, the crossover between scientific psychology,
