This lecture gives an introduction to content-based analysis and description of multimedia signals. First, some fundamental methods for signal preprocessing are introduced with a particular focus on point operations such as histogram equalization and gamma correction as well as binary operations like morphological filters. Further different color spaces are considered. Additionally multidimensional signals and systems are examined and different transformes are introduced. Additionally different image operations as interpolation, feature detection, image matching and segmentation are presented.
