Now perhaps you know that the previous CKR conferences did not take place here, for one
because this place didn't exist, certainly not in the shape and form, but they took place
at Fraunhofer IISB.
That's not the only change.
A lot of other things have changed since the last conference and that is actually something
I would like to explore with our two hosts now who I'm asking to join me on stage now.
We have two chairs and I'm going to step aside to keep the distance.
So I would like to welcome Dr. Roland Bush, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Siemens
on the stage and I would like to welcome Professor Joachim Hornegger, President of the FAU also
on stage.
We have two chairs.
You can make yourself comfortable.
We will.
That's a good start.
We only have a few minutes but you have to make the most of it.
So I already said that a few things have changed, one of which is the location.
What else is different with this conference to those before?
Roland Busch, perhaps you would like to start.
Well what's different?
I think we had to shrink it down from five hours to two and a half, from zero distance
to 1.5 meters.
So a lot of changes.
It's all virtual as we have experienced in the past and I think I have also some good
experiences in this virtual event.
But there was one particular thing which happened which was a kind of a day one event for Siemens.
It's very strange after 170 years to celebrate a day one event but it was because of our
spin-off of Siemens Energy which happened on the 28th of September where we successfully
spun our energy business and this marks really just a milestone in Siemens history.
So we had a day one event, 1st of October.
Despite the pandemic a day one event.
That's something to celebrate then.
Absolutely all virtual but it worked well.
Well yeah the media certainly covered it.
I remember that very well.
Professor Honecker, I think there's been a change in the CKI office.
Could that be?
Yes we had a change.
Professor Lerch who was in charge of our CKI activities at FAU.
He retired and also his assistant Dominik Gadeon left our university.
So we shifted and it's now directly assigned to the president's office and that means that
the collaboration between FAU and Siemens is way stronger and is driven by the board
of our university and I hope that this will also strengthen our collaboration with Siemens
and our industry partner and we were very active over the past years and I'm very thankful
to Reinhard Lerch who is hopefully sitting at home and watching this live stream.
Thank you Reinhard for supporting us and thank you Dominik for supporting us.
I think you did a fantastic job as Donald Trump is also saying.
It was great to work with you and we had a lot of progress and I'm looking forward now
to drive CKI out of the president's office of FAU.
Right, but I mean there are, you mentioned it already, everything is digital, even this
conference is digital now or hybrid, it's a big difference because some people are allowed
