What If You Ouch Your pr month?
Do you have summer behind you?
Physical activity has many positive effects on health.
But to effectively promote physical activity in the long-term, we need to take into account
the needs and demands of individuals and the specific characteristics of a setting.
Participation and co-creation strategies are increasingly used to develop new physical
activity interventions as they involve relevant stakeholders and consider setting-specific
characteristics.
The research project ParkAVE used such a strategy to promote physical activity in nursing students
and automotive mechatronics.
Before starting the joint development phase, the researchers moved into practice to familiarize
themselves with the setting and the end uses.
They participated in lessons' for nursing students and were actively involved in the
working processes in the assembly department of an automotive manufacturer.
This is what we call the practice dive approach.
It describes such purposeful immersions into practice.
There are different types characterizing how deep researches temporarily immerse themselves
in the setting of interest.
A low practice dive can include observations or on-site inspections.
While a deep practice dive includes taking on the role of the targeted audience, such
dives can support the co-creation of new interventions, not only by including end-users in the development
process, but by experiencing the field.

effects, please have a look at our latest article published in Health Promotion International.
