Yes, I mean, the main parts of my research over the last 20 years have focused on what

I call industrial diseases, which include hazards, industrial hazards that workers are

exposed within the factories or all kind of working environment actually.

But also those communities in the neighborhood of all kind of industrial facilities.

But I guess because of my being of since I started living in Taiwan about 13 years ago

around 2007 and because of the very specific situation of Taiwan, I you know I for the

last one year have been doing the sociology of risk which focusing on environmental and

occupational issues.

But because of the situation of Taiwan I start paying more attention to more traditional

issues including military issues which was I was totally unfamiliar with and especially

for the last two years I've studied these issues with my colleagues and it's a new field

of research for me.

As I will explain it's so maybe let me start with my slides.

So yeah I was talking about the specific location of Taiwan and if you google for maps of Asia,

Taiwan of maps of Taiwan and in East Asia you can find some maps like this where Taiwan

is clearly identified with different color compared to China or in other countries.

But most of the time the maps will be like this.
