Katharina Breininger has been a professor of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging, an endowed professorship of Siemens Healthcare at the new Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering. Katharina Breininger forscht als Professorin für Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging, einer Stiftungsprofessur von Siemens Healthcare am neuen Department Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering. Im Rahmen ihrer Doktorarbeit in Kollaboration mit Advanced Therapies, Siemens Healthcare GmbH arbeitete sie an einer Methode, die vielen Patientinnen und Patienten zugutekommen soll, die an einem Aortenaneurysma, also einer Erweiterung der Aorta leiden. Für ihre Arbeiten hat Katharina Breininger schon diverse Auszeichnungen bekommen, unter anderem einen Young Scientist Award diesjährigen Konferenz für Medical Image Computing und Computer Assisted Interventions (MICCAI), einer der wichtigsten Konferenzen im Bereich der medizinischen Bildverarbeitung.
