What is the FAU exchange?
Actually, we would like to present you a very specific program today, the FAU exchange.
But before I go into the program and the possibilities that you have,
so about us, what you have, if you go abroad with us,
I would like to take a few steps back and explain to you some general things
so that you know what it is.
In the study abroad, there is one thing, but there are many terms that always fall.
And I will explain that to you shortly.
And in the second step, I will explain to you in principle
what possibilities you have to go abroad.
I know that a general lecture took place on Tuesday,
so I don't know who of you was already there.
But I will only go into that very briefly,
but the distinction is still very important.
Therefore, exactly.
First of all, today it is only about the FAU exchange program here,
but in general it is about the direct exchange partnerships of the FAU.
Because anyone who wants to go abroad has probably already come across the term Erasmus
or direct exchange.
What is the difference?
Quite simply, Europe is not Europe.
So it is not that simple, but this is the first banal distinction.
Erasmus has different branches of the program,
but direct exchange partnerships are mostly the partnerships in overseas.
So mostly outside of Europe, not necessarily overseas.
There are also direct exchange partnerships in Europe,
although this is usually more complicated.
So it is easier if you want to go abroad from within Europe,
that you say, here you go, Erasmus.
Sometimes it doesn't work, because the partnerships don't exist.
That is something else, but if we talk about direct exchange,
then it is mostly actually overseas.
Of course, as part of direct exchange, there are both directions in coming out going.
That means students come to us or go abroad.
Of course, we would talk about out going with you, it is clear.
It is just that you have heard it.
Before I go into the FAU exchange program,
I would like to show you what kind of possibilities you have
to go abroad within the FAU.
And I am talking about direct exchange.
Erasmus, I will leave it outside, there is a lecture next week.
It is important to know that direct exchange is distributed at different places at the FAU.
That you don't have a central place where you apply for overseas universities.
That is very important, because that will be very important later.
It is important that there are six places.
That means, one place is us, the Referral for International Affairs.
That means, the program is called FAU exchange.
We are in charge of the university contracts that are closed at the university level.
Everything else that is closed at a different level is directly taken care of there.
That is why the distinction is actually centrally taken care of.
