I would like to pass on now to the next speaker who is representing the other

hosts namely Siemens. Dr. Michaela Schutt, Global Vice President of People

Development and Strategy at Siemens. Professor Bodendorf already mentioned

several times that knowledge management in human resources that's what she's

going to talk about now. She manages strategic people and leadership

initiatives and programs. She has a strong background in international

consulting projects for former Siemens Managing Consulting and she'll be

talking to us now about artificial intelligence in human resources and I

hope she's already here because I cannot see or hear her. There she is. Hello.

Hello Dr. Schutt. Good to see you and it's yeah the floor as they say is yours.

Thank you very much for inviting me and thank you Professor Bodendorf for this

interesting presentation. I was really smiling at the one slide where the quote was

we are drowning in data but starving for knowledge and I think that holds also

very true for Siemens. Knowledge management as you said in a big

organization it's a big struggle and at Siemens we always say if Siemens knew

what Siemens knows so this is definitely a challenge for us but for us and that's

why I'm talking about AI in human resource the even bigger challenge is

how do we make use of this tremendous amount of data that is produced every

second every day by every interaction our employees take by every conversation. As a

lot of data generated how can we make use of this and AI basically can be one

good lever to make it easier and to take the step from pure data also to

knowledge to value the knowledge. And if we look in the area of AI it's basically

three major areas where we see that AI can be of big help. The first one is

when it comes to automation of complex tasks. So already in the past repetitive

transactional trivial HR processes like for example payroll have been automated

but with AI there is much more much more possibilities to also automate more

complex tasks. I make an example parsing of CVs so curriculum vita. A CV nowadays

is more or less a standardized object and AI can help and support a human

resource. I have an echo. I continue and can you do something about this?

No. Question to the moderator.

It's all good. Dr. Schuett we can hear you it's all good we're all listening to you.

Okay great. Now I hear my own voice.

Can you switch the volume down from the stream? I think this is what causes the echo.

I think so. Sometimes it is. Can you come again? All right you don't hear me anymore?

I hear you and I still hear you but let's continue like this. Yes let's continue.

We'll tell you when something is wrong. Okay great. So parsing of CVs.

The AI engine can help the human being but it can help a lot to tell the human

what other elements we should invest in. There is more time for reaccommodation.

This example describes pretty good the benefit of automation of complex tasks.

What is possible to make AI really free from the mind of the human.

Dr. Schuett I'm so sorry I have to interrupt after all but it's actually getting worse.

It was fine until you said you have a problem but now it's like you're under water and all we can

hear is bubbles with a little bit of sound in between. We fear the problem could be on our side.

So apologies to everyone who is joining us. We're not wrapping yet. We don't give up that easily.

I'm sure we get this sorted. Just bear with us a little bit while our technicians are trying to figure out

what's going on because obviously we want to be able to hear Dr. Schuett properly.

We've tested it this afternoon and it worked perfectly all right. We could hear everything

and there wasn't a problem so yeah well you know the devil is in the detail.

There's always something going on but we're on it and maybe I don't know if this works when you can see me

and hear me then we may just as well make use of that time and ask Professor Bordendorf some more questions.
