Yeah, okay, I will start in English and then later on for some reason switch to German.

Yeah, dear friends, dear guests, I'm really deeply impressed and moved by all the effort

which has been made and then even for me and I want to thank all who put so much effort

into this day and the day which will follow.

In particular, I want to thank Alexander Brechtel who is as always absolutely indispensable

at our chair.

I'm a little bit puzzled about all these positive things which have been said about me.

I'm not sure whether I was really meant and to explain what I mean I have to go back a

little bit in time.

I want to take you back to the 4th of July 1954.

You heard when I was born, so at that day I was a little bit less than three months

old.

It was a Sunday.

It was pretty hot at that day in Germany as far as I remember.

Of course I do not remember as far as I was told.

In the afternoon there was a radio transmission.

At that time there was only radio.

There were only 20,000 TV sets in Germany in this year.

My father and also my mother, they decided to listen to this radio transmission and I

was also there lying in my basket carriage and I think I was not so enormously interested

in this radio transmission.

Everything went well until the 84th minute.

What then happened, I think we can only understand if we listen a little bit to this radio transmission.

I hope it will work.

This was one part of this radio transmission.

I guess the Germans got it, most of the Germans at least got it, what was meant.

Maybe I translated a little bit to our foreign guests, only a few of the sentences.

I have here a print out and I tried to translate it to English and to make it, I tried to transfer

it a little bit from the past to the present.

So I changed it a little bit.

Basically what was said in this radio transmission at that moment of time.

From the background, Müller should shoot, of course not Müller, Thomas Müller.

That's not Thomas Müller, it's Thomas Müller.

Thomas Müller should shoot, Müller shoots, goal, goal, goal, goal.

So that was the text.

What then happened, there are different reports about that.

What is for sure that my father in his exuberant joy jumped up and then some people say he

sort of hit this basket carriage I was lying in.

Then the reports are a little bit contradictory.

Some say nothing happened, some say it rocketed through the room, some say it smashed against

the wall, turned around, I fell out.

Some say nothing of this had happened.

In any case, I got, so my very young life was endangered, but apparently there were

no damages.

Some people say obviously there were damages.

But this had enormous influence for my further life because at the evening of this day I

decided to become a football coach.

And because of that and because every football coach can express itself only in his mother

tongue maybe with the exception of Pep Guardiola, Giovanni Trapattoni or Luis van Gaal, I will

now switch to German.
